Mr. E.B. Chathuranga is a dedicated hospitality professional, educator, and entrepreneur with a deep passion for skills development and inclusive education. He is the Founder, CEO, and Senior Lecturer of the Academy of Bartending and Mixology, one of Sri Lanka’s emerging training institutions in hospitality and beverage education.

He holds a BSc (Special) Degree in Hospitality Management from the prestigious Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, and is professionally qualified with NVQ Level 4 certifications in Food & Beverage Services and Bartending. His academic foundation, combined with his practical and teaching experience, has made him a respected name in hospitality education circles.

Industry Experience

Mr. Chathuranga brings over 3 years of hands-on industry experience in both local and overseas hotels, where he gained exposure to international standards of guest service, bar operations, and food & beverage management. This real-world experience directly informs his teaching, allowing students to benefit from both academic and industry perspectives.

Lecturing & Training Experience

With over 5 years of teaching experience, Mr. Chathuranga has worked as a lecturer in both government and private hotel schools, delivering expert instruction in:

  • Hospitality for Special Needs Education

Currently, he serves as a visiting lecturer at several leading government and private institutions, where he continues to train students in bartending, barista techniques, Customer service management and inclusive hospitality programs.

Pioneer in Inclusive Hospitality Education

One of Mr. Chathuranga’s most significant contributions is his work in special needs education within the hospitality sector. He was the first lecturer in Sri Lanka to conduct the NVQ Level 3 Food & Beverage Service course specifically designed for students with Down Syndrome. This groundbreaking initiative has paved the way for more inclusive vocational training opportunities in the industry.

  • Mr. Chathuranga has also contributed to hospitality research. His undergraduate dissertation titled:

    explores the informal transport sector’s influence on tourism experience and satisfaction, providing insights into how service interactions beyond hotel premises affect the overall hospitality value chain.
